Books Are Fun™ Book Blast Privacy Policy

BooksAreFun.com and its program Book Blast use a contribution site designed to collect contributions to buy books for students. This is done through parents/guardians entering email addresses and text numbers of friends and family, which are then used on their behalf to request contributions for books for their children.

Your privacy is important to us. When you submit information, we collect and use it solely for communication purposes regarding our literacy program. We do not share your information with third parties. Your data is kept secure and confidential. By submitting your information, you consent to our privacy policy.

Information Collected

The Book Blast contribution system used by a Host School asks Parents/Guardians to register by entering a first name, last name and email address. This information is used to create an account, so the Parent/Guardian can sign in, add their student's name, invite family and friends, and monitor contribution progress.  It is also used to email notifications about contributions. The website uses “cookies” only to maintain session state, not to track users. Parents/Guardians may optionally upload a photo of their student to personalize the contribution request and 'thank you' letters that get sent to contributors.

The system also asks parents/guardians to enter a student's first name, last name, and select their teacher. The names get used when emailing and/or texting contribution requests and thank you notes to family and friends. The information also appears on reports used by the school to award prizes.

The system asks a parent/guardian to enter the first name, last name, alias (e.g. Grandma & Grandpa), email address and/or mobile phone number of family and friends (i.e. Contributors) from whom they would like to request contributions. It uses this information to email and/or text contribution requests and 'thank you' notes. Contributor email addresses and/or mobile phone numbers are not shared with anyone (not even the host school). Personal information such as emails and cell phone numbers are never sold to third parties or used for solicitation, outside of the request on behalf of the parents to support their children to have books as part of the book drive.  The contribution request emails and/or texts link contributors to a contribution page. This page can only be seen by the invited contributor.

Access to Information

Book Blast customer service representatives and developers have access to the information entered, as it is necessary to perform their duties. The Host School has access to the information Parent/Guardians enter for themselves and their Students, but not Contributors. The information entered is never shared with anyone else, except when required by law. The contribution page can only be seen by people invited.

Review, Edit or Remove Information

Parents/Guardians may sign in to their account and review, edit or remove information entered. In cases where the system won’t allow changes, contact customer service at 1-833-425-7736 or bookblastsupport@booksarefun.com and a customer service representative will do it for you.

Security

Book Blast uses industry standard encryption to protect data entered as it travels across the Internet and a firewall to protect information stored on internal systems to guard against individuals with malicious intent.
